Kejuaraan reli dunia berada di ketinggian di akhir 90-an. Mitsubishi memperkenalkan mobil baru dan berakhir di tempat keempat. Itu kasar, sulit dikendalikan, dan dengan teknologi baru yang sulit dimengerti oleh driver. Kursi termurah, tidak ada AC, tidak ada radio, tidak ada jendela listrik, dan hanya tersedia dengan roda baja dan putih. Level trim atas menawarkan kursi olahraga-ember merekaro dan semua kenyamanan untuk mobil cepat.
Mendengar nama Mitsubishi, tentu yang paling diingat dalam kepala ialah Pajero Sport dan sedan kencang Lancer Evolution. Seperti halnya Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI RSX 2000 yang satu ini. Mobil ini begitu spesial bagi kalangan petrolhead karena telah mengalami beberapa modifikasi di dalamnya. Seperti dilansir Carscoops, ubahan yang dibenamkan pada Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI RSX 2000 ini antara lain adalah tidak ada sistem pengereman ABS, aluminium hood, front wings, stiffer sheel, quick release steering dan stripped out di bagian interiornya. Sebagai informasi, berbekal beberapa ubahan yang disematkan, kini bobot mobil tersebut lebih ringan 110 kg dari versi Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI pada umumnya.

Lancer Evolution IV (1996)Pada Oktober 1995, mobil penumpang Lancer mendapat full model change, begitu pun pada Lancer Evolution yang masuk generasi keduanya atau dikenal juga dengan Evo IV.

Mitsubishi fokus pada pendinginan mesin seperti menggunakan intercooler dan oil cooler lebih besar. Sebagai apresiasi atas prestasi 4 kali juara WRC Tommi Makinen, dilahirkanlah Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition atau sering di sebut Evo TME atau 6½. Perbedaannya seperti jok Recaro sudah diembos logo Tommi Makinen, setir Momo dan shift knob, pelek Enkei 17 inci warna putih, turbin titanium, dan strut brace depan atas.
