Following last month’s leaked photos, the all-new Toyota Raize small SUV has gone on sale in Japan. Yes, the Toyota Raize also offers an optional four-wheel-drive system called Dynamic Torque Control 4WD. It distributes torque to the rear wheels when accelerating from a start or when driving on slippery road surfaces. When it comes to driving assistance systems, the Toyota Raize is available with Smart Assist safety features including Crash Avoidance Braking Function, Erroneous Start Prevention Function with braking control (forward and backward), Adaptive Cruise Control with All Speed Tracking, and Smart Panorama Parking Assist. Offered in three grades priced from 1,679,000 yen ($14,425), the Toyota Raize is also available with a subscription service in Japan for a monthly fee starting at 39,820 yen ($366).
The new Raize is a compact SUV small passenger car that measures less than four meters in length. The new Raize is the first compact car produced by Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu) to incorporate its next-generation car making platform, DNGA*6, which anticipates product development for both Toyota and Daihatsu brands. All aspects of the car―including its platform and powertrain unit―have been newly developed, with the goal of realizing outstanding levels of driving performance, luxury, safety, and peace of mind. As for driving performance, the Raize's newly developed light-weight, highly rigid body and suspension contribute to outstanding handling stability and ride comfort. The new Raize will be added to Toyota's KINTO ONE beloved-car subscription service*13, which proposes a new user-car relationship, from November 12*14.
The good news first—Mexico is getting the Toyota Raize, a cute, little crossover that's smaller than any subcompact SUV sold in America but with more character than most. Because Toyota has Daihatsu in its group company, Toyota do not produce mini vehicles. From small engine car like “Passo” to V12-5 liter engine car like “Century”, Toyota is literally a full-line up car manufacturer.
Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki YFG will reportedly use a 1.5-litre petrol engine in mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid guisesAccording to a recent report that surfaced on the internet citing sources, the Maruti Suzuki YFG and Toyota D22 will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid as well as a strong hybrid technology. The report went on to note that the Toyota Hyryder will boast both 1.5-litre mild- and strong-hybrid engines. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15C petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech will be good enough to produce 103 PS as in the recently facelifted Ertiga, XL6 and the upcoming new Brezza. The Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki YFG’s trial production was said to have commenced last month itself and they will reach showrooms this festive season. We do believe the 1.4-litre BoosterJet turbo K14C 129 PS strong hybrid engine is a more representative option considering the performance levels of its rivals such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos but we will have to wait and see what the official specs sheet has in store.
